Colleen received her MFA in nonfiction writing at the University of Iowa. She currently has a Fulbright grant in Mexico to work on a book about Americans who live overseas. Colleen’s sister likes to point out that Mexico is not technically over seas, which helps explain why more than a million Americans reside there. Thanks to a grant from the American-Scandinavian Foundation, she began this expat project looking for Americans in Iceland. She began by reading the Icelandic phone book. It’s a short read. In her spare time, Colleen enjoys collecting globes.
